Precinct 013 and 031 - Mesa, A
Date/time:
2006-11-08 02:09:49
Description:
Part 1 of 2. Problem was described as "machine broken, voters asked to vote twice." Arrived and interviewed voters entering/exiting the 75ft restricted area. Signs (with AZ laws written on them) were present to denote the boundaries for non-voters. Spoke with both precinct marshalls to inquire about the machine failure and re-voting issues. Problems were remedies in a timely manner according to them. Milagros Cisneros (EP attorney) joined me in questioning.

InkaVote scanner problems
Date/time:
2006-11-07 23:01:18
Description:
In Los Angeles, they have new InkaVote scanners to detect double votes at the polling place. They are not used to count the vote. There were widespread machine problems, particularly in the morning. When the machine doesn't work, they're supposed to capture the normal ballot, by putting it in a slot that doesn't go through the scanner. In one precinct, there was a mistake - they had everyone vote a provisional ballot instead. This happened until the machine was made operational. In all, seven voters cast provisional ballots instead of normal ballots. The poll workers were extremely helpful, and one consented to explain the problems with these new machines. This is captured on tape.
