On the largest Super Tuesday in history, voters across the country faced many of the same obstacles that have plagued recent national elections: long lines, voting machine failures, inadequately trained pollworkers, and even a ticker tape parade. Video the Vote volunteers were on the scene to capture some of these problems.
Atlanta, GA - Voters at the Welcome All Community Center faced long lines throughout the day due to problems with Diebold "ExpressPoll" Electronic Pollbooks. Voters waited two hours and longer, and many had to return to work prior to voting
Conley, GA - Similar check-in problems plagued the Cedar Grove Methodist Church, just outside of Atlanta, where multiple-hour lines stretched around the building while voting booths sat empty.
Van Nuys, CA - Actor Mimi Kennedy reports on the widespread confusion over Los Angeles County's system for allowing "decline-to-state" and independent voters to vote in the Democratic primary.
New York City, NY - The Giants' Super Bowl victory had unintended consequences for downtown voters. The million-strong crowd made crossing Broadway, and getting to polling places, nearly impossible throughout the morning.
Los Angeles, CA - Morril Arnold showed up to vote at 9:30 but was told the voting machines weren't there. He came back an hour later, but the machines had still not arrived. As of 11:45am, there were still no machines.
Los Angeles, CA - Sample ballots mailed to some voters misstated the location of their polling place. Video the Vote volunteers post a corrective sign to point them in the right direction.
